This Fitness training is in cooperation with “The Circuit Gym” in Cantonments, Accra and open to everybody.

The Circuit Gym is offering functional training and has put together a fitness program that is based on the ground-breaking principles out of “Training for the New Alpinism” by Steve House and Scott Johnston. The training targets the specific training needs of hikers, climbers and mountaineers.

But the training also addresses all other interested people. A lot of focus is put on core strength and endurance, as well as full-body strength and general strength endurance.

Mountaineering basically involves long, steep approaches with heavy packs over many hours plus then long vertical climbs with heavy gear. Then the long descent with heavy packs again. To succeed, mountaineers need to train leg strength and endurance as well us upper-body and core strength.

If you are planning any mountaineering project in the future, be it Kilimanjaro or the Everest Base Camp hike or just one of these Ghana Mountaineers Endurance hikes, this offers a great way to train.

A regular basic fitness test will be held to enable you to measure your progress. It is based on the alpine fitness assessment test from “Training for the new Alpinism”.

The cost for the first training is GHS 50.00 and if you would like to continue, you can purchase a 10 session card. The 10-session card allows you to participate in other classes as well or you can just use it to attend 10 x the special GM training. ( see attached flyer for more details ).
